The Name Change
Some of you have been following the Lucky’s Bordello series that I’ve been working on. I changed the name (at about 2 AM this morning) from Lucky’s Bordello to Storyville. I won’t get into great detail as to why, but it’s mostly because the Bordello name had been used for a series by a pretty well known photographer and I want this project to stand alone.
Why Storyville?
I’ve been giving some pretty deep thought to a new name for some time. During my research, I came across Storyville.
Storyville was the red-light district of New Orleans, Louisiana, from 1897 through 1917. The District, as it was known, was set aside in hopes of keeping prostitution in one confined area of the city. It was decidedly French influenced, as was all of Louisiana, but had a very diverse culture. The district was situated two blocks inland from the French Quarter. Storyville was a mix of high end bordellos like Mahogany Hall to seedy ally ways. There was even a special book published, simply called “The Blue Book”, to help gentlemen searching for some companionship.
There’s a lot more and it’s a compelling story that I may be telling pieces of along the way. There is a site dedicated to Storyville if you want to read more.
So, all in all its perfectly matched with the vision that I have for this project. I’m planning a trip there very soon and am really excited about the new name and slightly new direction.
If you haven’t checked out the series, do it! I just added two new sets called “Voyeur” and “Puissance”.
Enjoy!

I’ve been looking forward to seeing how the video came out that was filmed during our shoot with Kris Melton from www.RockFistReviews.com. I was pleased for sure. Tim Daust from ReelMind Studios did a hell of a job putting this together.
Look for big things coming from Kris in the future. She has the talent, drive and intelligence to make a mark on an industry that could use a good swift kick in the ass.
This set has been up for a little while but didn’t post the pictures here. This is the first of about 8 that I’m doing for this series. To view the rest click here. Most are nude so you may want to wait until you get home for this one.

In the next couple of weeks I’m going to be posting some of the photos from the holiday shoot we had on Dec. 5th. We had a blast and got some great pictures!
The first on the list is Emily.

A few things have changed here. Obviously I have a new look to the site and new functionality. Oh… and a new name. Changed from the Naked Gypsy to Lucky’s Blog. I like it better. The Naked Gypsy’s ship has sailed. I’m also going to be putting a little more focus on the pinup work. I know its what people want to see more of and well its my business so, there ya have it.
If you receive this in your inbox, you probably got nailed with a huge email of many many posts at once. Sorry about that. I guess its because I switched from Blogger to Worpress. Hopefully it won’t happen again!
Our new address is http://luckysblog.com. Bookmark it!
Pictures from the Holiday shoot are coming soon. Thanks to everyone who came out for it and the crew who pulled it off flawlessly!
Had a couple of great shoots this weekend. This is from one of them. Christine was a lot of fun to work with, really creative and definitely comfortable in front of the camera.
I had a shoot last week with Kris Melton, Editor of Rock Fist Reviews. Kris started Rock Fist in May 2008 and has been driving local support and making a name for herself in the Atlanta music scene ever since. She began writing for Atlanta’s Rock Scene’s review column in June 2008 and Atlanta radio station Project 9-6-1’s HomeGrown bands in August 2008. Her combined love and enthusiasm for writing, music, and chasing down a dream is what Rock Fist is founded on.
At first we talked about doing a pinup shoot but we both agreed that this was much more her style.
I’ve learned that staying in a state of constant gratitude is almost a guarantee that more good will come my way. I try to do that daily. Even when I’m not feeling it, I act grateful until the feelings catch up with the actions.
On this thanksgiving I’m thinking about some of the things I’m most grateful for. There are too many to name but… here goes:
Family – to be sure I have a great family. For the most part everyone is happy and healthy. They have always been supportive even in my craziest endeavors.
Some I’m closer to than others. My brother Ryan in Colorado has taught me a lot over the years about how to live life free. My mother is always a phone call away and ready to listen. My daughter is kind, artistic and my daily partner on this trip.
Friends – I have some great friends. Some I talk to often and some I rarely need to talk to, just knowing they are on the planet doing their thing is enough.
My work – I skate through this life doing things that I’m passionate about. I’m most grateful for my independent spirit. The theory that, if you do what you love you will be a success, is no longer a theory. I live it. Drown out the critics and keep your eye on the prize. You can’t fail.
All the best,
Brent
